Our Story
How it all Started
Our story began in April 2021, when each of us decided to change careers and enrolled in a coding bootcamp in Berlin. With COVID still around, the course started remotely (not the easiest environment for getting to know one another). During group Zoom calls, Emanuele struggled to understand Emily’s accent, while Emily thought he was simply ignoring her. Luckily, restrictions eased and we were finally able to attend the bootcamp in person, where we realised it was all a misunderstanding and we actually got on very well. From there, a friendship began and grew into something more.
Life in Berlin
Just before Christmas that year, Emily caught COVID and had to cancel her trip to England. Emanuele decided to stay in Berlin too, to look after Emily and spend Christmas together. A temporary stay in Emanuele’s flat for Christmas became more permanent and after a few months of living between two flats, and the struggles of flat hunting in Berlin, we made the decision to move into Emily’s 35m2 one-room apartment in Neukölln. What we thought would last a few months turned into almost two years (we took it as a sign that we could survive anything, and good preparation for marriage).
A New Chapter
By the end of 2023, we both felt that eight years in Berlin was long enough. In September 2024, we moved into our new home in Pesaro, Italy, which we’ve spent the last year furnishing and decorating to make it our own.
The Proposal
On a beautiful summer day in July (our fourth anniversary) we took a trip to one of our favourite places, the beach in Fiorenzuola di Focara. Tucked beneath the cliffs and reached by a winding forest path, it’s a quiet, almost untouched stretch of coastline we first visited together when Emily came to Pesaro for the very first time. Under a driftwood structure built for shade, and with the sea stretching out behind us, Emanuele proposed.
After spending the following summer months driving around the region in search of the perfect place to celebrate, we found our dream location, and we can’t wait to spend this special day with you.
